THE couple involved in Friday’s tree fall on their car in Churchlands remain in Royal Perth Hospital.

The husband and wife, both aged 70, were trapped when a big gum tree fell on their vehicle in Pearson Street before 10am.

A hospital spokeswoman said they were in the hospital’s State Trauma Unit and the man was in a serious but stable condition. His wife was in a stable condition.

■ Perth’s storms also caused the closure of beach stairs at Mettams Pool over the weekend and a power outage at the Scarborough Beach Pool on Friday.

City of Stirling recreation and leisure services manager Cheyne Cameron said patrons could not use the pool from 5.30am to 7.30am.

“Thanks to our quick-acting staff, the issue was rectified and any disruption was minimised. Scarborough Beach Pool members were kept informed throughout and were very understanding,” he said.
