JOONDANNA teenager Rad­heya Je­gath­eva has been named the WA Young Achiever of the Year.

The 18-year-old re­ceived the hon­our at the WA Young Achiever Awards on Satur­day.

Je­gath­eva first won the arts and fash­ion cat­e­gory of the awards be­fore tak­ing out the over­all ac­co­lade.

The former Perth Mod­ern School stu­dent is a film­maker, artist, poet and writer who has had his films screened at more than 300 film fes­ti­vals around the world.

His short films Jour­ney and iRony have won more than 130 film awards.

The lat­ter was based on an award-win­ning poem writ­ten by Je­gath­eva.

His triath­lete brother Rahul (16) was a fi­nal­ist in the sports award, which was won by Fre­man­tle Dock­ers AFL Women’s player Kara Donel­lan.

In­naloo’s Jor­dan Foster won the small busi­ness achiever award, recog­nis­ing his ef­forts as founder of cy­ber safety ed­u­ca­tion provider ySafe.

Je­gath­eva won a $2000 Barter­card ac­count, $1000 cash and a tro­phy.
