Join the NAIDOC Cel­e­bra­tions

Cel­e­brate the his­tory, cul­ture and achieve­ments of Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Is­lan­der peo­ples at the City’s NAIDOC event on Mon­day 9 July from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Hap­pen­ing at Stir­ling Leisure Cen­tres – Herb Gra­ham Recre­ation Cen­tre Mirra­booka, the free event will in­clude Abo­rig­i­nal dancers, live bands, Abo­rig­i­nal-themed face paint­ing, bouncy cas­tles, an an­i­mal farm and more.

The City also re­cently part­nered with the Wad­jak North­side Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­nity Group for the an­nual Rec­on­cil­i­a­tion Walk in May. Held at Lake Gwelup, the walk pro­vided a sym­bolic way to af­firm the City’s ded­i­ca­tion and the com­mu­nity’s com­mit­ment to rec­on­cil­i­a­tion. Hun­dreds of peo­ple at­tended in­clud­ing Mayor Mark Ir­win who took part in a Ny­oon­gar cer­e­mo­nial dance alongside lo­cal stu­dents.
