Join the NAIDOC Celebrations
Celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples at the City’s NAIDOC event on Monday 9 July from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Happening at Stirling Leisure Centres – Herb Graham Recreation Centre Mirrabooka, the free event will include Aboriginal dancers, live bands, Aboriginal-themed face painting, bouncy castles, an animal farm and more.
The City also recently partnered with the Wadjak Northside Aboriginal Community Group for the annual Reconciliation Walk in May. Held at Lake Gwelup, the walk provided a symbolic way to affirm the City’s dedication and the community’s commitment to reconciliation. Hundreds of people attended including Mayor Mark Irwin who took part in a Nyoongar ceremonial dance alongside local students. Both events are supported by the City’s Cultural Development Fund.
