Twomey stands up

Stirling Times - - Wafl -

KARRINYUP stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) surfer Chris Twomey has proven himself among the best in the state.

Twomey is the state champion in the over-50 men’s category after a win at the WA SUP Titles in Mandurah on the weekend.

He competed in two other finals events, finishing third in the open and over-40s men’s divisions, all in challenging conditions with waves about 2m high.

“That was a massive weekend of waves and weather,” he said.

“To claim the state title ahead of some quality opposition is a truly great feeling and I look forward to the challenge of the Australian SUP Titles in Queensland.”

Scarborough sisters Monica and Silvia De Araujo finished second and third respectively in the open women’s category, while Karrinyup’s Darron McNab was second in the over-40 men’s.
