NEW­MAN Col­lege stu­dents have won a state award for their cul­tural per­for­mance pro­mot­ing rec­on­cil­i­a­tion. The Church­lands school took part in the PALS (part­ner­ship, ac­cep­tance, learn­ing, shar­ing) pro­gram run by the De­part­ment of Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment, Sport and Cul­tural In­dus­tries, which en­cour­ages young peo­ple to learn more about Abo­rig­i­nal cul­ture. Stu­dents cre­ated and per­formed Koort Kadad­jiny Ka­did­jiny (Heart Learn­ing), which used Noon­gar lan­guage, orig­i­nal mu­sic, song, move­ment and vis­ual art. New­man Col­lege won the arts and cul­ture award and the over­all award.
