3 1925 ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM I AERODYNAMIC COUPE

Street Machine - - House Of Worship -

This one-of-a-kind goliath was coachbuilt by Jonckheere of Belgium in 1934 after it had been purchased by the Raja of Nanpara, following a few years of neglect by its original Detroit owner. The outlandish design, with its sloping body and circular doors, did not sit well with the bulk of Rolls aficionados, but still managed to a win a Prix d’honneur at the 1936 Cannes Concours d’elegance. The car disappeared and reappeared a few times, including in a junkyard in New Jersey, where it was eventually snapped up and restored. The Petersen acquired the car in 2001 and restored it to its former glory, painting it black to highlight its unique and striking look
