BRING YOUR BEAST TO THE RED CENTRE!
> JASON BRIGHT CUTS UP THE STREETS OF ALICE AHEAD OF THIS YEAR’S RED CENTRE NATS
THE stand-out best feature of last year’s inaugural Red Centrenats in Alice Springs was the fact that entrants with cars that, shall we say, push the limit of street registration were able to cruise around the streets of Alice with the full approval of the authorities. It was awesome to see the likes of Lynchy and Gary Myers enjoying the sights in cars that are normally only seen on the burnout pad.
The same scheme is on offer for this year’s event (2-4 September), and to highlight the point, the Red Centrenats crew organised for Jason Bright to take his Team BOC V8 Supercar for a promotional spin around town. We didn’t see any skids from the number #8 (a la Whincup at Summernats 29) and neither will we at Red Centrenats – the street permits are there to allow entrants to enjoy cruising with their mates against an epic landscape, not turning tyres. For those who want to really test their car at the event, there will be ample opportunity, with burnouts, drags, a motorkhana and more. To enquire about your car’s eligibility for the special permits, hit up redcentrenats.com.au.
And the word is that entries are rolling in fast. One entry that caught our eye was Street Machine Drag Challenge veteran Adam Rogash and his monster VT Clubsport (photo top right). His seven-second weapon is going to turn plenty of heads in Alice, and man, does he have a full schedule of events on his plate! After RCN, he’ll head to the World Time Attack Challenge in Sydney to take on the GT-RS in the Flying 500 event. And shortly after that, he’ll be back for Street Machine Drag Challenge all over again. Busy lad!
