More than 2,400 individual lubricant blends were tested using a wide range of different tools and processes to develop the optimal recipe. This analysis included tests to prove the lubricant’s capacity to reduce friction, minimise metal-to-metal contact, prevent wear and corrosion, and operate at extremes of high and low temperatures. The appraisal of he lubricant’s performance during these tests was measured in a variety of ways.
“Because we’re pushing the boundaries of physical and chemical science, in order to better understand how and why Castrol EDGE with TITANIUM FST™ increases the oil film strength of the lubricant, we worked with world-leading scientists in renowned academic institutions that are specialists in examining material properties in extreme environments,” explains Gareth Dowd, Expert Technologist of Castrol.
