RED CENTRENATS IS GO!
> ALL ROADS LEAD TO ALICE SPRINGS FOR THE FIRST POST-COVID CAR FESTIVAL!
MAN, have we missed car shows. And so it is with great excitement and anticipation that we can announce that one of our favourite events on the calendar, Red Centrenats, is full steam ahead for 2020!
As is tradition, Red Centrenats will take place on the Father’s Day weekend, 4-6 September. And with Northern Territory borders scheduled to open on 17 July, interstate visitors will be welcome and indeed encouraged to attend – Alice is a town that depends heavily on tourism, and it hasn’t had much of that in recent times.
Measures will be in place to ensure COVID-19 safety protocols are observed. The detailed program is still being finalised as we go to print, but organisers are confident that all major RCN drawcards will go ahead.
That means the Burnout Championship, Burnout Masters, Heavy Hitters drag racing invitational, show ’n’ shine, grass driving events and the all-important street cruising will all feature on the schedule, provided the COVID safety plan ticks all the required boxes.
The action isn’t strictly reserved for those of a supercharged street car inclination though, with off-road action set to play a big part in the event thanks to the return of the frosty sideways glass-inspired Great Northern 4WD Course. The Red Centrenats team, together with the Outback 4WD Club, have put together increasingly challenging courses to test both your rig and your driving skills, which will see you negotiating steep climbs, log hops, barriers, mud-filled ditches and more.
Organisers are expecting entries to sell out fast, so get along to redcentrenats.com.au to lock in your spot while you still can, purchase your entrant and buddy passes, or stay abreast of any developments with the program, which should be available online by the time you read this.
Despite the coronavirus crisis, there is already a record number of pre-entries, with entrants flocking to take advantage of the first opportunity in a long time to enjoy a fullyfledged car festival. We get it – we’re excited too!
