HOT GOSSIP

VALE FRANK ZAGARI

FOR almost 30 years, Frank Zagari churned out automotive engineering masterpieces from his workshop, Zagari Engineering in South Australia. A boilermaker by trade, with several welding and fabrication qualifications to his name, his ultimate interest and love was drag racing and tough street cars. He loved Fords, especially his tough-as-nails XA GT coupe. Sadly, Frank recently lost his battle with ill health. He was a very muchloved car enthusiast, husband, father, brother and friend, and is survived by his wife and children.

Street Machine would like to extend our sincere condolences to Frank’s family and friends.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

BIG news in publishing circles is that Bauer Media has sold its Australian and New Zealand interests – Street Machine included – to Mercury Capital. What impact will that have on SM’S magazine and digital assets? Aside from a new logo in the brag box on page eight, very little! SM has had myriad owners in its 39-year existence, and we’re looking forward to celebrating our 40th with you next year! While we’re on internal matters, this month we farewell our marketing champion Rachel Nixon, who has been a big part of our success in recent years, including (but by no means limited to) Drag Challenge and our rad range of merch. Thank you for all your hard work, mate!

NEXT!

HOW good is it to have some fresh drag racing content in this issue? The good news is there’s more of the same planned for the October mag, with some grassroots eighth-mile action from Junga Bunga at Warwick Dragway. We also have a killer crop of feature cars waiting in the wings, including a staunch all-motor XY, a Chev-powered EJ wagon, a stupid-fast turbo LS chrome-bumper Commodore and a gorgeous Monaro, not to mention what could be our most powerful Sleeper yet. All this and way more beaut stuff in the October issue of Street Machine, on sale 10 September.
