FROM the Grand Champion sword at Street Machine Summernats to the medals at Motorex, there are plenty of gongs in our sport, but only the Valvoline Street Machine Of The Year is decided by you, the readers of this magazine. For the past couple of years, we’ve thrown the privilege of selecting the 16 finalists over to you as well, but unfortunately the impact of COVID-19 has made that impossible to co-ordinate this year. Instead, for 2020 the finalists have been chosen by Street Machine staff and contributors. That said, the responsibility of choosing the ultimate winner of SMOTY 2020 still falls to you! It’s a personal choice not necessarily determined by dollars and sense – it’s all about which cars speak to you. As such, it is the ultimate recognition of a car builder’s vision. Holdens have won the SMOTY prize 19 times, while nine Fords, three Chevs and just one Mopar have also got the nod. In 2020, the finalists include six Holdens, three Fords, three Chevs, three Mopars and a solitary Toyota! Congratulations to everyone with a car here; your hard work and dedication has been recognised by Street Machine. And now, everyone reading this magazine has one job to do: vote for your favourite to take out the 2020 Valvoline Street Machine Of The Year!
HOW IT WORKS
THE ground rules are simple: to be eligible for SMOTY, cars must be primarily Australian-built and featured in one of the past 12 issues of Street Machine. Top elite show cars, brutal streeters, cool pro tourers, slick customs and street/strip monsters are among the finalists, and the outright winner will be decided by you, our valued readers!
YOU CAN WIN TOO!
NOT only does your vote count towards your chosen car lifting the trophy, but you also go in the draw to win the ultimate Summernats experience! You and a mate could be off to Canberra on us, with flights from the winner’s nearest Australian capital (or from Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch if you live in NZ), four nights in a top hotel, two Platinum Passes to Summernats 34, a pair of VIP passes to the exclusive Street Machine party, and $1000 spending money! However, please note that the prize may need to be modified in the event of unforeseen circumstances related to COVID-19.
HOW TO VOTE
SIMPLY jump online and head to smoty.com.au, follow the prompts to the promotion entry page, complete the form (including your full name, mailing address, telephone number and valid email address) and vote for your favourite vehicle. Voting is now open; you have until 25 September 2020 at 23:59 (AEDT) to have your say. We’ll have all the original feature stories on the website to help you pick your winner, but remember, you can only vote once!
