Street Machine

WELCOME to Street Machine’s first ever Yearbook! How is it different from a regular monthly issue of SM? Well, the truth is, it isn’t, but we’ve increased our frequency from 12 issues a year to 13, and we had to call it something!

In the early days, Street Machine was a bi-monthly title. The frequency gradually increased over time, until it grew from nine to 12 issues a year under Geoff Seddon’s editorship. We reasoned that you lot wouldn’t mind an extra issue per year, and our scene is a wealth of great content right now, so here we are!

Part of what makes Street Machine such a pivotal part of our scene is its long and proud heritage. Twenty-twenty has been a rugged year for most, but there’s a lot to be excited about in 2021; by no means the least of which is our 40th birthday!

There are some great plans afoot to honour the occasion, and I look forward to telling you more about them in time, but we’re hoping to add to the long line of Street Machine giveaway car builds. If it comes off, this one will be an absolute cracker!

While we’re on the subject of heritage, I’m beyond stoked to have Michael Moit’s Cortina on the cover of this issue. Much like Street Machine, WOG007’S history stretches back to the early 1980s, becoming an iconic car on the Pro Street scene with its wheels-tanding antics at tracks like Oran Park and Eastern Creek throughout the 1990s.

Sadly, the Oran Park track is no more, having been bulldozed, sliced into quarter-acre blocks and pensioned off in 2010. But WOG007 is very much alive and well, having been treated to the most exquisite rebuild at the hands of the Moits Motorcars team.

The way in which they’ve managed to comprehensively modernise the car whilst staying true to its long and proud history is to be commended, and the quality and scope of the fabrication work is second to none. I invite you to check it out for yourself, from page 30.

Lastly, we’ve got a smoking hot subs deal I’d like you to know about. Right now you can get the next 13 issues of Street Machine delivered straight to your mailbox for just $89, which represents a saving of 31-percent off the cover price. Get on over to streetmachine.subscription.com.au and do yourself a favour!

Cheers,

Broads
