ON A PLATE

-

I HAVE just read about the plight of Peter Hansen with Vicroads refusing his WEPN number plates and his fight to overturn the decision. Personally I think the world has gone stupid with all this political correctness – all the violence, blood and guts on the big screen, TV, streaming services and the like, and yet someone has to have a whinge about a number plate! These people really need to get a life and stop harassing us normal people.

I’m glad Peter has had the number plates reinstated to him. I don’t know if you’re aware of the barrister with the number plate LGOPNR here in Sydney, but it amounts to the same thing. Someone claimed that the plates were offensive and contacted the RMS, and his plates were also confiscated.

I think the biggest problem here is that people no longer have a sense of humour and have forgotten how to have a laugh – especially at themselves. Seriously, they’re bloody number plates! It’s not as if these people are actually killing or raping someone. It makes me wonder where society is going.

Anyway, on a brighter note, I wish all your readers and the team at Street Machine a joyous, happy and less stressful 2021. Keep on cruisin’ with the sunny side up.

HEY mate, we broach this very subject in a couple of places this issue. In my Broadcast column (p. 5), I rate Peter’s win as a rare victory for common sense. Unfortunately, the Fun Police have been in full effect in NSW lately, as you’ll see in News Front on page 10. – Broads
