DRAG CHALLENGE 2022

> COVID HAS SCUPPERED DRAG CHALLENGE 2021, BUT WE’LL BE BACK WITH THREE EVENTS NEXT YEAR!

-

OUR fingers were crossed that it wouldn’t come to this, but the worsening COVID-19 situation in Victoria means that we’ve had to cancel Street Machine Drag Challenge for 2021, which was scheduled for 18-22 October.

The event had sold out in six hours, with 250 entrants and another 100 on the waiting list. With racers coming from every state and territory, it was set to be massive. But it is not to be! We’ll run our five-day Drag Challenge once more in October 2022, and we’ll announce dates for that early next year. Most of the existing entry list has rolled over to next year and we’ll fill any drop-outs from the waiting list.

But if you missed out or just can’t wait that long, we’re proud to announce that we’ll be running our first Victorian-based Drag Challenge Weekend event, 25-27 March 2022. The new three-day event will start and finish at Heathcote Park Raceway, with the second track to be announced soon. We’ll open entries for that next month.

We’re also looking good for another Drag Challenge Weekend in Queensland next year, thanks to some good news out of Warwick Dragway. After enduring some delays thanks to bad weather and COVID-19 travel restrictions, the new concrete eighth-mile section of the Warwick track was poured in September. The remaining 740m of what will be a full quarter-mile track and run-off area will be done in hot-mix. If all goes to plan, the track will be open for racing again early next year. Being able to run an all quartermile Drag Challenge Weekend would be a dream result – fingers crossed!

Thanks to our racers for their patience, as well as the tracks and our incredible sponsors who have stuck with us through these crazy times.
