SICK of LS swaps? So is Jay Duca, which is why he stuffed an angry four-rotor Mazda mill into his slammed VL Commodore! Jay carried out the swap in just five weeks to get it to Street Machine Summernats 36, and once he did, punters both at the event and on the internet lost their minds! We posted the story on our Facebook page and asked for your thoughts on Jay’s unusual – not to mention controversial – build. Here’s what you had to say.

Phil Staatz – Such a unique and epic build by Jay the wizard! His Youtube videos are super inspirational. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m sure we can all appreciate the skill and creativity involved in such a short timeframe.

Blake L Reid – Love the car! It’s unique. The stance isn’t for me, but god-dang it’s well done. Troy Dwyer – Not my cup of tea, but full credit – the engineering is out there! Way to upset the loyalists!

Tfa Tfa – In my opinion, it would have looked better with a set of Interceptor wheels or some HDT Group A wheels. Other than that, it looks good.

Michael Lucantoni – Now this is a VL! Justin Challis – Love all the bogans that it upsets. Adrian Jarrett – Justin Challis, how many bogans do you reckon have a factory 5.0L VL in their garage?

Justin Walters – He does some crazy builds, and this VL is no exception. Love how he thinks outside the box; can’t wait for what’s next!

Timmy Otoole – I hope this gets a few pages in the mag.

Kale Jensen – Needs a Lion badge holding the rotary symbol instead of the steering wheel on the nosecone and other side of the bootlid. Would be the perfect finishing touch on something this custom.

Mendoza Dangerfield – Love everything except the wheels.

Clayton Ethell – Mendoza Dangerfield, it is 100 per cent an awesome build, but I also cannot get behind the wheels and camber. James Roberts – Watched the whole thing being built by Jay on his Youtube page, Low Standards. He’s a madman – fkn love it!

Daniel Peachey – Best VL ever? Louc Mcstravick – Awesome bloke, awesome car! And to top it off, it took me for my first lap around the ’Nats! Absolutely killer, Jay!

Mike Young – A VL shouldn’t have anything but a 5.0L in it. It’s a hard pass from me. Joe Meihana – Love when people don’t follow the rest of the sheep.
