The latest Land Rover Discovery will give you major car envy

- BY JOSHUA DOWLING

Reputations precede...in the case of the all-new Land Rover Discovery that’s a very good thing.

Toowoomba Jaguar Land Rover has officially welcomed the sleek 2017 Discovery.

The square lines of old have been banished, replaced by a distinctive modern Land Rover appearance.

Despite the former shape forming a long queue of followers, this all-new variant already possesses a growing fan base.

Several of the all-new Discovery models were pre-sold even before customers have been behind the wheel.

“The reputation of Discovery is so strong and the other interesting thing with the all-new model is that a lot of these buyers are new entrants into our brand, prepared to buy on the back of the reputation,” Toowoomba Land Rover dealer principal David Russell said.

“The Discovery shape has Range Rover influence — they have stepped up quite a few notches in luxury fit and feel.

“It’s moving in a whole new direction — you still have that phenomenal off-road ability but also that feel of luxury that is so much more upmarket.”

The new model is set to take a big step up from the previous model in the same way the Discovery 3 did from the Discovery 2 in 2005.

There are three diesel options, a 2.0-litre turbo four in two states of tune and a 3.0-litre V6, matched to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

Each comes in four equipment grades - S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury.
