Style meets Dr Nicola Hulme-peake of Pure Dental Toowoomba

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I am originally from a small village, north of Aberdeen, in Scotland. I went to Dundee University to study dentistry. I immigrated to Toowoomba in 1995.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY.

I have two children, Zoë, 16, who is going into Grade 12 at Downlands College this year and Sebastian, 14, who will be in Grade 10 this year at Toowoomba Grammar School.

WHAT IS YOUR WORKING BACKGROUND?

I graduated from Dundee University in 1991 and I spent four years working within the hospital and general dental practice NHS system in the UK. I moved to Toowoomba in 1995 under the Commonwealth Dental Scheme. My husband and I opened Peake Dental Practice in 1999, followed by Dental Elegance in 2006. Following a personal and business separation early this year, a new path had to be found. With the fantastic support of my friends and patients I have opened my own dental practice, Pure Dental Toowoomba.

WHAT DO YOU THINK EARNS SUCCESS IN BUSINESS?

Your relationship with your patients is paramount. If you can have empathy for your patients whilst providing professional, high quality dentistry in a supportive, caring environment, you will build the trust of your clientele and your business will naturally grow.

WHAT DO YOU PRIDE YOURSELF ON?

My passion for my industry and my love of dentistry and my patients. I love improving the quality of my patients’ oral health and seeing how that improves their general wellbeing. I have a special interest in working with children and patients with dental anxiety. I find true fulfilment in helping people along in their dental journey.
