STEPPING OUT IN STYLE

-

Who doesn’t love fashion, glamour and supporting local?

On May 26 at Rumours International, the Stepping Out Winter Glamour Runway will be headlining 20 exceptional fashion houses available across the Darling Downs while supporting St Andrew’s Hospital oncology department.

With an emerging designer competition to be judged by renowned industry professionals including Alexander Kennedy, Bronwyn Smith, Leina Broughton and Mary Wagner, the Stepping Out Winter Glamour Runway is set to be the fashion event of the year.

Event organiser Kaye Foley is looking forward to the night, and is eager to see what it brings to the region.

“I am so excited about the new emerging designer competition, and to watch all the new boutiques from the inner city such as S&G Collections, A’lia Collective, and Fox & Willow,” Kaye says.

“The buzz I get is from the models who have been through my course experiencing a big runway show — that’s very rewarding for me. Giving back to the community is wonderful, I love supporting local businesses and I love supporting Toowoomba.”

Based on the Gold Coast with a national following, Leina Broughton specialises in garments that flatter all shapes and sizes. Made from beautiful jersey, stretch lace and other easy fabrics these garments are meant to take you from the boardroom to a party.

Leina and her business partner Fleur Richardson are delighted to be joining the judging panel.

Alexander Kennedy is a Toowoomba-based couturier who makes special occasion wear to order. In bridal, evening and race wear his style is classic with a creative twist and always featuring superb fabrics.

Bronwyn Smith is the daughter of Irma J Smith and one of Brisbane’s most admired fashion doyennes. She makes complete wardrobes for her sophisticated clientele but it’s her evening wear and signature suits that gain the most attention. Custom-made from exquisite fabrics these stylish suits will never date.

Mary Wagner is certainly known for her community work and her role in bringing a wonderful airport to the people of Toowoomba. But many will remember her award-winning entries in Toowoomba fashion awards over the years. A talented designer and seamstress, Mary specialised in evening and bridal gowns.

The event will also have a wonderful raffle on the evening, with big prizes on

offer including accommodation packages from Spicers Hidden Vale Retreat, Kingfisher Bay Resort and Athena Motel, Kaye Foley Model Grooming and Deportment course, and much more.

This event can be enjoyed in style, with VIPS having drinks, a grazing platter, VIP bags and a guaranteed seat in the first or second row for $100.

General admission is $50, and student tickets are available for $30 as well.

“Our focus of the night is to raise lots of money for St Andrews, give back to our community, have lots of fun and see a great show,” Kaye says.

“There will be lots of new boutiques to see, and it’ll be great to meet the new designers.”

Supporting local is a big part of Stepping Out Winter Glamour Runway.

“I’ve been here a long time, and Toowoomba really has grown a lot, from the funky boutiques, to the gorgeous cafes lining the streets — it’s lovely to see and it’s great that we can support these people,” Kaye adds.

“The committee members have been very helpful — things like this don’t come together easily, so I am very grateful for all of their assistance.”
