THE ‘BIG C’ GOES SOCIAL

JOIN THE ONLINE MOVEMENT THIS WORLD CANCER DAY

-

Monday, February 4, is World Cancer Day. An initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), World Cancer Day aims to save lives by raising awareness about cancer and encouraging people around the world to take action.

On World Cancer Day, everybody, the world over, can unite in the fight against cancer.

The initiative aims to prevent millions of deaths each year by pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the ‘Big C’.

According to the UICC, at least one third of cancers are preventable.

Launching a three–year online campaign for impact under the hashtag #Iamandiwill, the UICC is asking what you will do to reduce your cancer risk.

The ‘I Am And I Will’ campaign is built to resonate, inspire change, and mobilise action long after the passing of World Cancer Day.

It is a call–to–action that requires personal commitment and offers a chance to create a long–lasting impact through public engagement.

The message is clear: Whoever you are, you have the power to reduce the impact of cancer for yourself, the people you love, and for the world.

To welcome the new theme, the UICC have created the first World Cancer Day augmented reality Facebook filter, which celebrates each person’s power to make a positive impact by showing off your inner superhero.

Speak up and share your ‘I Am And I Will’ message on social media, adding the hashtags #Iamandiwill and #Worldcancerday to your posts.

If you’re feeling brave, you can even broadcast your message via the Facebook Live feature.

Messages like ‘I am a student and I will be an oncologist one day’, ‘I am a journalist and I will spread the facts’, or ‘I am a cancer survivor and I will tell my story’, are just a few examples of what you can do to join the online movement.

Get out there this World Cancer Day and make the difference only you can make.
