CELEBRATING GLENNIE'S EXPERIENCED EDUCATORS

Mrs Crystal Hede is a highly-qualified educator who commenced her executive role as 'Head of Operations' after a decade of teaching Health and Physical Education and occupying the Head of Department role at Glennie.
"Being a part of the Glennie community in various capacities over the years — student, parent, teacher and now senior leader — has been a joy. I reflect on the decision that my parents made to send me to Glennie when I was their little girl and I consider it a gift," said Crystal.
As a lead author of three textbooks currently used by thousands of students across Queensland, Crystal and her co-authors, were delighted to receive national recognition for their second text 'Physical Education for Queensland Units 1 and 2 Student Book' in 2019. This resource provides in-depth and complete coverage of the new Physical Education syllabus for students and teachers. This academic contribution will be a gift for the many generations to come.
Science and Mathematics secondary teacher, Mrs Nicolette Wheaton and family, moved from Glennie theme good y be ig encoura put our for wal ender Armidale NSW to Toowoomba this year and are loving every minute. Nicolette's teaching philosophy in Science has always been that students learn by doing, and when she saw the incredible science laboratories at Glennie, she knew that this would be supported.
Nicolette has spent her career and s 2020 postgraduate university studies focusing on improving the culture of 'Be so science education in Australia. In 2010 LI can't she received a Churchill Fellowship to 'red' seek out resources across the United es us to States of America. In 2014, Nicolette est foot travelled to Canada and New I in all Zealand on a Premier's Scholarship to experience ways to immerse 'Ours. Indigenous knowledge into the science classroom.
Nicolette's most recent 'Highly Commended' accolade in 2017 was for her outstanding contribution to science education in Australia in the prestigious Prime Minister's Prizes for Science.
"After working alongside NASA astrobiologists and robotics specialists in the northern Flinders Ranges and Mojave desert, I bring diverse knowledge and a unique learning experience to my students," said Mrs Wheaton.
