Your curated space

-

Acurated gallery wall in your home is a powerful reflection of your personality and sense of style. Done well, it’s super impressive and will lift your decor to a new level of sophistication.

ONE How to choose the right wall:

It doesn’t have to be large or a main feature wall. It could be in a stairwell, a foyer or a powder room. Ensure your chosen wall is strong enough to hold all the items and consider what equipment you will need to attach pieces to the wall. You don’t want to damage the wall or the items you are hanging. Know where the electrical wiring is located within the wall.

TWO Choose your style:

Start with a theme such as French chic or Scandi, eclectic bohemian, birds or botanicals, black and white photos, abstracts or portraits

THREE Choose the items that suit your style:

Ensure there is something that connects them such as their frames – all wooden or all black – or link pieces with a colour palette. You can mix up shapes and incorporate squares, rectangles, circles, hearts and crosses.

FOUR

However, you are not limited to items in frames. For round shapes you can use plates, hats, clocks and baskets. Use fabric, macramé, clothing, tools, sporting equipment and musical instruments.

FIVE

On a piece of paper draw a thumbnail sketch of the wall and surrounding space so you can play around with shapes until you get the right look. Remember that we tend to look from left to right so make sure your collection has flow. If you’re putting lots of small items on one side, balance them out with a large item on the other.

SIX

Cut the shapes of your chosen items to scale from sheets of paper and, using Blutak, stick the paper representations onto the wall for an all-important final check.

SEVEN

Gather adhesive and other hanging supplies that won’t damage your wall. Start creating your gallery.
