Lavender: While working up a sweat is good for your health, quality rest is often overlooked.

Lavender oil reduces stress and helps relax the mind. Simply sprinkle a few drops on your pillow prior to going to bed. For a serious evening of relaxation, add a few drops in the bath.

Tea tree: A cup of tea boast numerous health benefits but when it comes to treating acne or fungal infections, opt for tea tree.

Treat skin problems like athlete’s foot and clear blemishes by dabbing a few drops of tea tree to the affected area. Peppermint: Heartburn, bloated or feeling nauseous?

You could be suffering from indigestio­n.

Just mix a few drops of peppermint oil with water and drink.

Lemon: Increase focus and concentrat­ion with a sniff of lemon.

It can also help keep fleas away when used on your pets.

Grapefruit: Another citrus oil containing similar properties to lemon, grapefruit helps fight fatigue and in particular, a killer weapon towards dealing with jet lag. It’s also a natural antiseptic. Eucalyptus: Spring has blossomed and so too has the sinus season. If you suffer from allergies that affect your breathing, have a whiff of eucalyptus to clear congestion. Use it in a vaporiser or apply it diluted directly to the inside of your nose. Jasmin: Brush off winter gloom with jasmin. Known as a stimulatin­g aroma, this oil produces feeling of confidence and optimism.
