IVF JOY – A YEAR ON

Wayne and Tracy Peters shared every part of their IVF journey with Style in May 2017. Fast forward a year later...

In May last year, Style magazine featured local couple Wayne and Tracy Peters, who shared their very personal story about conceiving a child through in-vitro fertilisation, or IVF.

On April 20, 2017 at 6.48am in St Vincent’s Hospital, Toowoomba, Wayne and Tracy welcomed their son, Jackson Lee Peters, into the world.

Almost a year later, we chat with Tracy about how her experience of being a mother for the first time has been.

“Jackson has changed our lives immensely,” Tracy says.

“He makes us laugh every day. Of course, like any new parent, there have been ups and downs (and long nights) since his arrival, but the joy we experience far outweighs any hard times. We feel like we have been on an incredible journey with him and love watching him learn and develop. Obviously, we have learnt leaving the house with an infant is now a process, as is going on holidays!”

Wayne is the proprietor of Joyce Mayne Toowoomba, and Tracy works as the small appliance manager.

The couple conceived Jackson through IVF, which is a process used to overcome a range of fertility issues, and they would recommend it to others.

“Yes, we have no regrets whatsoever about going through IVF, and would do it again,” Tracy says.

“Dr [John] Esler (gynaecologist and fertility specialist) and his team were very supportive during the process.”

Tracy says there’s a huge amount of support available throughout the various stages of IVF.

The happy mother offers one bit of advice to new parents.

“Go with the flow! Babies are tiny for a such a short time, cuddle them as much as possible.”
