Merry Christmas from the Style team! We’ve had so much fun putting together this festive edition for you, our readers, and it seems the Christmas spirit is infectious with decorations popping up early all over the office.

Rumour has it that one colleague has been humming carols since early November, though it’s yet to be seen if this is due to festive spirit or just a way to annoy staunch Christmas-starts-in-december supporters.

Christmas isn’t all tinsel and candycanes, however. For some children and their parents, sadness and loneliness during the festive season is all too real due to mum or dad being in prison.

This edition, we discovered an organisation that’s bridging this gap between parent and child, starting with a donated Christmas gift. You can read all about it on page 8.

Style also had a chat with renowned singer Jeannette Lovetri, who is coming to Toowoomba in January. Read the incredible story of how she found a teacher against all odds on page 10.

With the start of the Silly Season comes the start of summer, and it’s even more imperative to be sunsafe during this time.

While you shouldn’t neglect sunscreen, hats, sunsafe clothing and staying inside during the hottest part of the day, the makeup you choose can help keep the UV rays at bay as well (p28).
