Xmas Lights Competition gears up for another year

-

With Christmas spirit in full swing and judging under way for the winners of this year’s Christmas Lights Competition, one cannot help but sing along to the Beach Boys when they say:

The houses turn on their Christmas lights at night; it’s worth the wait the whole year through just to make happy someone like you.

And, as is the case with the Beach Boys, outgrowing Christmas Day (or the lead–up to it) is not an option.

For the 30 entrants in this year’s competition, Christmas is a time to share the joy.

What better way to do that than lighting up houses and office buildings throughout Toowoomba?

Every night until Christmas Eve, between 6.30pm and 9.30pm, lights will be shining from every nook and cranny of the properties entered into the competition.

This year’s judges will choose winners for each of the five classes — best decorated home, runner–up best decorated home, first–time entrant, best neighbourhood, and best nativity display.

The competition, presented by Betta Home Living, will be judged on creativity and theme, overall visual appeal, the variety of colour and decorations used, and the degree of difficulty (or technical skill) brought to bear by the contestants.

The winners will be announced in The Chronicle on Saturday, December 15, and will share in a total prize pool of $2600.

Remember to grab your copy of The Chronicle on Thursday, December 08, for a handy map lighting the way to each entrant’s property.

Take a drive this December and share in the spirit of Christmas.
