Q: SHOULD I ASK FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR FINANCIAL ADVICE?
A:“It’s a personal choice whether you talk to friends and family about your financial concerns,” Hartnett says. “If you do, it’s important you share them with friends and family who have knowledge in that area so the advice is helpful and not harmful.”
If you’re after objective advice, there’s plenty out there, Hartnett adds: “There’s independent information online that can be a good starting point and speaking to a financial counsellor is free. For emotional support, though, having a strong social network and a supportive family is invaluable.”
