Sail off the beaten path on an epic ex­pe­di­tion trip sail­ing the fa­mous North­west Pas­sage through the Cana­dian Arc­tic Ar­chi­pel­ago link­ing the At­lantic and Pa­cific oceans. De­part­ing Au­gust 17, 2019, the 17-day voy­age on the 198-pas­sen­ger

be­gins in Green­land with its vil­lages, dra­matic fjords and glaciers, be­fore cross­ing the Davis Strait to the ice­berg-filled wa­ters of Nu­navut, Canada’s north­ern­most ter­ri­tory.

When Cu­nard’s ship calls in lo­cal wa­ters next year, her staff will be wear­ing some dis­tinctly Aussie clob­ber.

The ship’s bell­boys will swap their tra­di­tional red and black uni­forms and caps for R.M. Wil­liams boots, trousers, shirts, belts and jack­ets, topped by Akubra hats. Other lo­cal touches in­clude a part­ner­ship with the Aus­tralian Dance The­atre to show­case con­tem­po­rary Aus­tralian dance dur­ing lo­cal sea­son.

In ad­di­tion, Mel­bourne’s Star­ward Dis­tillery has just put a 225 litre oak bar­rel of whisky on board. Star­ward spokesman David Vi­tale said the range of cli­matic con­di­tions on board would add in­ter­est to the whisky’s mat­u­ra­tion dur­ing the com­ing year.

It will be served and tasted against a sis­ter bar­rel which ma­tured in Mel­bourne.

Cu­nard will base in Aus­tralian wa­ters from Fe­bru­ary to April next year, with itin­er­ar­ies from two to 18 nights on of­fer as she sails from Syd­ney and Mel­bourne.

The fol­low­ing sum­mer, the ship will re­turn to Aus­tralian wa­ters for 101 days of cruis­ing, from De­cem­ber 2019 to March 2020. PH 132 494, CU­NARD.COM
