French pick

- Wayne Mitchell

A few years ago my wife and I decided to live in France for a year. After three years of careful and exciting planning we moved from Canberra to Saint Chinian in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, wine country extraordinaire. We kept full records and for little more than the cost of a year living in Canberra we lived in Saint Chinian as locals. That cost included two cruises and short side trips to eight other countries. We made lifelong friends, French and English. Stay away from Provence and see the real France for a fraction of the price in Saint Chinian. Make an effort to learn some of the language and the locals will appreciate it, making your experience amazing. Covid time is ideal to start the lengthy planning process.
