A hand­some ren­o­va­tion has in­jected new en­ergy into one of the penin­sula’s more qui­etly im­pres­sive vine­yard restau­rants.

Deep-div­ing into the cel­lar filled with es­tate hits has al­ways been a high­light of a meal here, though now, with its win­dows into the bar­rel room and pic­ture-per­fect vista out front, the din­ing room lives up to the wines.

As does chef Ju­lian Hills’ de­li­ciously quirky and gen­er­ous fare, whether it’s deftly cooked oc­to­pus with chorizo and cape goose­ber­ries, or a show-stop­ping smoked ap­ple mousse that’s el­e­gant and artful.
