Tiger faithful sign on
RICHMOND is on track to set a membership record in 2019 as the ranks of the Tiger Army continue to swell.
The club on Friday hit 74,110 signed-up members for next season, significantly more than the same time last year when it took until December 23 to reach the 70,000 milestone.
The boon comes on the back of the signing of former Gold Coast forward Tom Lynch during the AFL’s free agency period, which has helped Richmond become installed as $5 premiership favourite TAB.
The Tigers finished with an AFL-record membership tally of 100,726 this year, close to a 10th of the league-wide total of 1,008,494 members.
Essendon is also on track to post a membership record, already boasting 51,383 signedup fans — about 2000 more than at the same time last year.
Having added No.1 draft pick Sam Walsh to its squad, Carlton has 39,268 members as its prospects start to improve after a wooden-spoon season. with bookmaker
