We all know the say­ing “a pic­ture paints a thou­sand words”. Well, it works both ways: A few pow­er­ful words can help you vi­su­alise a health­ier, hap­pier you. Mo­ti­va­tional quotes “can stir us at an emo­tional level, mak­ing us want to make pos­i­tive, ac­tive choices”, Dr Joann Lukins, of Peak Per­for­mance Psy­chol­ogy, says. “Our be­hav­iours are heav­ily in­flu­enced by our emo­tions.”

Of course, quotes alone won’t work magic. “We need to plan what we can do with this additional en­ergy and how we can turn it into a pos­i­tive phys­i­cal out­come,” Lukins says, “not just put it up on Pin­ter­est!”
