Se­nior phys­io­ther­a­pist Michael Drew, of the Aus­tralian In­sti­tute of Sport (AIS), says that above all, con­sis­tency is the most im­por­tant as­pect of a train­ing sched­ule.

“If you do too much too soon you’re go­ing to get in­jured or ill, and equally if you have a break, when you re­turn the risks are also en­hanced,” Drew says.
