Little BLACK BOOK

Who: Lauren Curtis Where: Perth, WA

-

Lauren Curtis found fame as a YouTube make-up artist and beauty blogger in 2011, and today has millions of dedicated fans across social media. The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award nominee also hosts the Mental Makeover podcast. “It doesn’t matter how successful you are, how much money you have, who you know or how attractive you are. If your mental health is overlooked, you may as well have nothing. It’s the foundation that everything else is built upon,” she tells Body+Soul. Here, she shares with us how she keeps well – both inside and out

Skin

Before I moved out of the city, I would see Carmen at Skin Fairy Clinic in Claremont every month for various treatments – enzyme mask, IPL, skin needling, or extractions. It depended on what my skin needed at the time. skinfairyclinic.com.au

I get wrinkle relaxers in between my brows every few months by Bridget at Base Aesthetic Clinic. It makes such a difference when applying make-up. baseaesthetics.com.au

Hair

Every few months I’ll see Chantelle at Viva La Blonde for a root touch-up and trim. Getting a bob was the best thing I’ve done in a long time; I wish I had done it years ago. vivalablonde.com.au

Body

I had my brows tattooed by Katie at Katie Cotton Brows a couple of years ago. It saves me time and gives me a clear shape to follow when I choose to define them a little more. I do everything else myself – it’s more cost-effective and I don’t have to leave the house! instagram.com/ katiecottonbrows

Health and Wellness

I do reformer Pilates three times a week. It improves my flexibility, strengthens my core and leaves me feeling sore the next day.

At home

I take some magnesium powder in water at night, which helps my mind and body relax, and gives me a better quality of sleep.

When I travel

I usually visit my dentist, Dr Angelo Lazaris, when I’m in Sydney. He truly is the best at what he does. sydneycosmetic dentist.com

Diet

I’m conscious of trying to eat healthily during the week, but I’m also happy to pig out on the weekend. Life becomes pretty miserable if you don’t allow yourself to eat the food you enjoy. I’ve also been a vegetarian for 14 years. I don’t like the smell and taste of coffee and I also don’t drink alcohol very often. The older I get, the harder it is to recover the next day!
