SHARP OBJECTS

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - TV GUIDE -

8.30PM, MONDAY, SHOWCASE AND FOXTEL ON DEMAND

THE similarities hang in the air like humidity: damaged women drinking away their pain in communities paralysed by secrets and lies. Director du jour Jean-Marc Vallée was at the helm of both literary adaptations, with his smallscreen style recognisable in the tension, searing light, and dark places you just never expect the complex and compelling stories to go. Amy Adams (above) is at her career-best as an alcoholic reporter sent back to her home town to investigate a child serial killer; an assignment that tears the band-aid off her own still-weeping psychological and physical wounds.
