What Is It?:

Press yourself for an answer

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - NEWS -

May need to press yourself for an answer to this puzzler

This two-piece set comes to us from Antiques on Macquarie in South Hobart.

The first part is a rectangular wooden box, its walls and bottom screwed together.

There is no lid, but instead a small wooden mallet, cut to fit perfectly inside.

Marks on the side of the box and a couple of drill holes suggest this one may not have been used in a while, but was put to good use in its day.

These gadgets are still in use, although they may not be easy to find in your average home today.

If you have a hunch about the use of this mystery item let us know.

Send your answer in an email to tassieliv[email protected] and your name could appear in next week’s column.
