What is it?:

Not recommended for lawn bowls

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - NEWS -

This one could be quite a strain to work out

This week’s mystery item was found at the Margate Train Trader in Margate. It looks a little like an old cannon ball or weight from a ball and chain.

However, this particular item is hollow and opens up. It is a metal sphere split into two halves. The hemispheres are joined together with a hinge and on the opposite side of the hinge is a latch to seal the orb-shaped object.

The surface of the ball is dotted with tiny holes. At top of the artifact is a small ring, which would enable it to be hung up. If you know what this week’s obscure item might be, let us know by sending an email to tassieliving@news.com.au

The first readers to send in the correct answer will have their names published below next week’s What Is It? segment.
