RFK: THE KENNEDY FAMILY REMEMBERS 8.30PM, MONDAY, HISTORY

THE ’60s was the era of political assassinations – JFK, Malcolm X, MLK and finally RFK. All leaders in their own right, all cut down before their time. Having always lived in his older brother’s shadow, Robert Kennedy was on the cusp of his own greatness when he was struck down just as cruelly. When you have a current US president tweeting “CNN sucks”, it’s hard not to have nostalgia for a time when candidates could quote Aeschylus. In this doco, we hear four of RFK’s children share their personal recollections of their father on the 50th anniversary of his death.

WHEN a chef says their food is quick and easy, I’m always suspicious. Are they talking for themselves or for lowly untrained cooks like me? In this series, Oliver promises he’s stripping back cooking to its bare essentials by using just five ingredients: “Using killer ingredient combos and timesaving tricks, even the busiest of you will be able to master dishes that will bring the house down.” It’s a big call but Oliver is an infectious presenter and it’s hard not to be swept up in his enthusiasm.
