CAT and dog-shaped coffee tables by furniture artist Renata Carmichael are among a showcase of items for sale at the annual Designed:Made 2017 market in Hobart.

About 30 designers and makers including jewellers and ceramists joined Ms Carmichael at the Town Hall yesterday and will return today.

Ms Carmichael specialises in animal-themed furniture.

A cat shaped table “In the Balance” is made from marine ply and hoop pine and is on the market, while the dogshaped table of Tasmanian Oak can be custom made.

“It was scorched with a blowtorch to get the colour,” she said.

Other designers and makers include printmakers and people working with fabric.

Ms Carmichael studied at the Tasmanian School of Art in Hunter St in 2005 and has been plying her trade ever since.
