I HAVE a dream. I dream of a train trip from Glenorchy to Mona (Berriedale).

I dream of important people, like Bunnings and David Walsh (Mona), compiling their money and know-how to get trains moving on the old rail lines to the Northern Suburbs. It has so much tourist potential.

I know there is an old SP rail carriage stored at Granton. The carriage was fitted out to be a restaurant carriage for use on the Derwent Valley Railway.

If this carriage could be restored, it could be used on trains of the Tasmanian Transport Museum. The carriage could be repainted with signs saying “Enjoy the Mona experience”, and Devonshire teas could be served on it.

The museum has people who could do this as volunteers.

If we could get people like Bunnings to come on board to advertise their business and possibly build a station platform at Berriedale, with one of the local bus services transporting Mona visitors to the museum, the mind boggles.

We live in hope for people with more dreams. Ray Wakefield Claremont
