Coast fire contained

Sunday Tasmanian - - News -

FIRE crews are continuing to control a 600ha fire on Tasmania’s East Coast that began on Thursday night.

Tasmania Fire Service water bombing helicopters were yesterday targeting a Swanston bushfire near Little Swanport on the East Coast, which has been contained to a 17km perimeter.

TFS incident controller Mark Klop said the fire currently presented no risk to nearby properties.

“It’s in quite a remote area, so structures to the west are under no threat and the fire is still five to six kilometres away from the Little Swanport community,” he said.
