Dad still waiting for apology, 18 years on

Sunday Tasmanian - - News -

THE father whose daughter died from a drug overdose in a hotel room with AFL legend Gary Ablett Sr has said he’s still waiting for the footballer to say sorry — 18 years later.

“He never said sorry,” Alan Horan said as he remembered his daughter Alisha.

Mr Horan said the AFL and Geelong Football Club never reached out to the family.

“She didn’t get to live her life. She has been forgotten in this AFL bubble.” Alisha had joined the football star, who was twice her age, on a fiveday drugs and alcohol bender.

“His life has been kicked around to smithereens since he admitted his mistake,” Ablett’s lawyer said when the footballer pleaded guilty to possession charges in relation to events leading up to her death.
