Activity at Murphy’s new store
LIQUOR giant Dan Murphy’s has started hiring for its new Hobart store as construction of the company’s newest bottleshop gets under way.
An advertisement to manage the $4.4 million New Town store was posted online in November, with the discount bottleshop expected to open its doors early next year.
No other positions have been advertised yet.
Construction of a 1325sqm warehouse store began in early August with machines moving in to excavate the land.
There has been a hive of activity at the Maypole Hotel site in recent weeks with a crane moving in and temporary fencing erected bearing the Dan Murphy’s logo.
A cement truck was also on site last week and concrete retaining walls have been constructed around the perimeter.
The discount bottleshop is being built on the corner of New Town and Risdon roads and will share the site with the existing Maypole Hotel.
Maypole Hotel closed on September 22 last year to allow for construction and is yet to reopen.
Dan Murphy’s opened its first Tasmanian store in Launceston in 2016.
