Ac­tiv­ity at Mur­phy’s new store

LIQUOR gi­ant Dan Mur­phy’s has started hir­ing for its new Ho­bart store as con­struc­tion of the com­pany’s new­est bot­tleshop gets un­der way.

An ad­ver­tise­ment to man­age the $4.4 mil­lion New Town store was posted on­line in Novem­ber, with the dis­count bot­tleshop ex­pected to open its doors early next year.

No other po­si­tions have been ad­ver­tised yet.

Con­struc­tion of a 1325sqm ware­house store be­gan in early Au­gust with ma­chines mov­ing in to ex­ca­vate the land.

There has been a hive of ac­tiv­ity at the May­pole Ho­tel site in re­cent weeks with a crane mov­ing in and tem­po­rary fenc­ing erected bear­ing the Dan Mur­phy’s logo.

A ce­ment truck was also on site last week and con­crete re­tain­ing walls have been con­structed around the perime­ter.

The dis­count bot­tleshop is be­ing built on the cor­ner of New Town and Ris­don roads and will share the site with the ex­ist­ing May­pole Ho­tel.

May­pole Ho­tel closed on Septem­ber 22 last year to al­low for con­struc­tion and is yet to re­open.

Dan Mur­phy’s opened its first Tas­ma­nian store in Launce­s­ton in 2016.
