Sample the sounds of virtuosi
THE sounds of Bach, Mozart and Rodgers and Hart filled the air at Home Hill Winery yesterday as Virtuosi Tasmania kicked off its December violin and piano program.
The music will move to Lifeway Baptist Church in Devonport today and Riversdale Estate at Cambridge tomorrow.
Musical director Jenny Owen said the program was “lovely” and provided a great opportunity to herald Virtuosi Tasmania’s 2019 concert series, which begins in February.
Yesterday’s concert program featured Yue-Hong Cha on violin and Karen Smithies on piano and featured Bach’s Donata in g minor, Wolfgang Mozart’s Violin concerto No 5 and Ernest Chausson’s Poeme op 25. Don Bate then joined the duo to sing Cinema Paradiso by film music composer Ennio Morricone and the Rodgers and Hart song My Funny Valentine.
