Sam­ple the sounds of vir­tu­osi

THE sounds of Bach, Mozart and Rodgers and Hart filled the air at Home Hill Win­ery yes­ter­day as Vir­tu­osi Tas­ma­nia kicked off its De­cem­ber vi­o­lin and pi­ano pro­gram.

The mu­sic will move to Life­way Bap­tist Church in Devon­port to­day and Rivers­dale Es­tate at Cam­bridge to­mor­row.

Mu­si­cal di­rec­tor Jenny Owen said the pro­gram was “lovely” and pro­vided a great op­por­tu­nity to her­ald Vir­tu­osi Tas­ma­nia’s 2019 con­cert se­ries, which be­gins in Fe­bru­ary.

Yes­ter­day’s con­cert pro­gram fea­tured Yue-Hong Cha on vi­o­lin and Karen Smithies on pi­ano and fea­tured Bach’s Donata in g mi­nor, Wolf­gang Mozart’s Vi­o­lin con­certo No 5 and Ernest Chaus­son’s Poeme op 25. Don Bate then joined the duo to sing Cinema Par­adiso by film mu­sic com­poser En­nio Mor­ri­cone and the Rodgers and Hart song My Funny Valen­tine.
