Side strain new in­jury blow for Pat­tin­son

THE Ashes am­bi­tions of Vic­to­rian fast bowler James Pat­tin­son have been dealt a blow by a side strain that has ended his Big Bash sea­son.

Pat­tin­son, who has not ot played for Aus­tralia since ce 2016 be­cause of in­juries, had ad spinal fu­sion surgery in 2017.

He suf­fered the lat­est in­njury play­ing for the Bris­bane ne Heat last Thurs­day.

Scans on Fri­day con­firmed ed the side strain and Heat coach ch Daniel Vet­tori said it was unn­likely Pat­tin­son would play ay for Bris­bane again this sea­son.

“We’ll mon­i­tor his re­cov­ery closely as he re­turns but the most likely sce­nario is that he will not be ready to play in time,’’ Vet­tori said.
