Saleen unleashes lightning turn of pace

SALEEN caused a massive boilover in Friday’s feature race at Winnellie Park.

Saleen took out the Garrard’s Horse And Hound NT Lightning Paws (537m) from a gallant No Overtaking with Oliver’s Guess in third spot.

Unbelievab­ly, red hot pick Swansea Jacky missed a place after beginning slowly and never really looking a hope of winning, and kennelmate Gold Vane was another who struggled and finished well back in seventh.

The night began in fine style with up and comer Roger’s Guess proving too strong coming from well off the pace mid race to overhaul outsider Mystery Play with Smiling India in third.

It was a handy win for inform trainer Warren Twaddle who pocketed an extra $850 in jackpot bonuses.

Impressive Son Of Joy made it back to back wins in race two, grabbing Fav Decibel on the line with Tiza Whisper in third spot.

Son Of Joy continues to work through his classes and should pick up plenty of wins, going on what has been seen so far from the son of Cosmic Rumble.

Leading trainer Graeme Ferns picked up the first of his winning doubles in race three when Fiji Bound scored a soft win over 312m.

Beginning handy Fiji Bound picked up an improving Look Fast with veteran Stubborn Blonde third.

Track record holder Just Proper saluted yet again in race four, recording a threelengt­h win over Junior Sanchez with Happy Jordan in third spot.

It has been a memorable year for the son of Knocka Norris who made it win 35 from 59 starts and will wrap up this greyhound of the year title in easy fashion.

The win also was the first of a double for trainer Peter Donnelley.

It was a survival of the fit- test in race five with Ramos walking home in a slow 32.53 to take it out over an unlucky Bold Heritage with Ironbark Hanna in third spot after finding plenty of trouble in running also.

Ramos found the lead early and

recorded his second 537m win from three attempts.

Honest Halle Blue ended a run of outs in race seven when the daughter of Go Wild Teddy jumped out early to lead, and kept going to hold off a gallant Uno My Size with Cast Iron Cake in third.

No doubt dropping back to fourth- grade class was a plus with box one perfect for trainer Ron Phillips.

All eyes were on boom youngster Rumble Style in the final event, with the son of Where’s Pedro giving nothing else a chance and stamping himself a star of the future for trainer Peter Donnelley.

Jumping handy and forging clear mid-race, Rumble Style won by a space over Rocket Fuel with Take Up Portrait third.
