Cruising with nobody losing

-

RESORTS and cruise ships have started separating families from singles in an attempt to ease the tension between holiday-makers.

Experts say it is part of a growing appreciation among tourism operators that it is not hard to cater for each group without alienating them. ‘‘You do have to have a wide appeal to ensure you’re filling the cruise and you have happy customers who become repeat customers,’’ Cruise Express managing director Meg Hill said.

‘‘They recognise they can have access to two growing and very lucrative markets if only they supply both.’’

It comes as Escape counts down 100 great holiday ideas for solo travellers and famil- ies. The list showcases the best trip ideas certain to keep families, couples and singles happy.

Ms Hill said savvy cruise operators such as P&O have opened dedicated adultsonly areas with features such as deck chairs, bars and a spa. There were also a growing number of activities specifically for children.
