Burnouts bite hoon
A VEHICLE was seized and confiscated for hooning after the driver was caught doing burnouts on a busy street in Alice Springs yesterday.
Police also found knuckledusters — a prohibited weapon — in the high-powered vehicle. Acting Senior Sergeant Phil Emmett said the man was seen doing burnouts on Gap Rd and Memorial Ave in the SS Commodore and when police tried to apprehend the vehicle, the driver drove away and failed to stop.
Police then followed and stopped the car on Gap Rd and the man, 30, was breathtested, allegedly returning a reading of 0.136.
‘‘He was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia — a bong,’’ SenSgt Emmett said.
The car was seized and impounded for 48 hours.
