Goalden boys to clash in Melbourne

-

THE A- League’s unlikely top scorers clash at AAMI Park today with the Newcastle Jets aiming to arrest Melbourne Victory’s strong home form.

Victory have three home wins in a row, thanks in no small part to James Troisi’s goalscoring run which has netted him five goals.

The two sides have identical records (3-3-2) but have very different routes to goal as shown in their goalscoring records.

Alongside Troisi, fellow mid- fielder Mitch Nichols and wide forwards Archie Thompson and Kosta Barbarouses have all chipped in with goals for the Victory.

In contrast, Newcastle’s Adam Taggart has six of his side’s eight goals this season, with the Jets’ title hopes resting on him forming a partnership with former England striker Emile Heskey.

After injury delayed Heskey’s season, the pair again get a chance to work together after a goalless display against Sydney FC last week.
