Celebrations all round with Oliver’s Guess win

- By DOUG BOOTH

POPULAR greyhound trainer Warren Twaddle and his wife, Bianca, had plenty to celebrate at Winnellie Park on Friday night.

The Twaddles toasted their 10th wedding anniversary in style when Oliver’s Guess broke his maiden status in race three.

It was definitely an omen bet on the Friday the 13th sixrace card as Oliver’s Guess broke through at start 13, beating a gallant No Overtaking, with Chang in third.

After placing seven times from 12 starts going in, it certainly was an overdue win.

The meeting began in fine fashion, with leading trainer Graeme Ferns winning race one with Criminal Damage.

He was having only his second local start but looks set to pick up a couple of races going on Friday’s win.

Starting fast from box six, the son of Shamlyn Prince scooted around in a handy 18.23 seconds, beating an improving Mystery Play, with Take Up Portrait in third.

Ferns continued his bright start in race two, with enigmatic Satin Moon taking the honours after plenty of midrace interference ended the chances of many of her rivals.

Satin Moon found herself with a huge lead and went on to score by 5 ¼ lengths over Happy Cairo, with Look Fast third.

Greyhound of the Year Just Proper romped home in race four with win 37 after pinging across from box eight to beat an in- form Daddy Kewell, with Junior Sanchez grabbing third.

It’s unlikely that Just Proper’s 2013 record will ever be surpassed, having won 23 races this year, an incredible feat by an incredible chaser.

Veteran trainer Frank Scott continued his recent good run in race five when Jurassic Knocka saluted beating last-start winner Millipop with AllMy Size in third.

This race was over early, with both leaders getting away mid-race, with the son of Knocka Norris moving away late.

The late scratching of short-price favourite Rumble Style from race six paved the way for Dilston Nugget to impress.

And take advantage he did, beating Miss Mwamba, with Willy Make It third.
