Winning Strike pad up for final

- By DOUG BOOTH

THE NT Strike will play off in the SACA Premier League Twenty20 final today against Papua New Guinea from 5.30pm at the Adelaide Oval.

After finishing top of the table undefeated, the Strike recorded two wins from as many starts.

Strike won their second match yesterday, defeating the SA Outbacks by seven runs.

Captain Nick Berry won the toss and chose to bat with Cameron Francis (36) and Ben Cooper (34) building a solid second-wicket partnership.

A solid innings of 19 from Tiwi Islander Jason Ryan helped the Strike’s cause but wickets fell regularly with several batsmen making starts but no one going on with it.

In reply the Outbacks made 7-150 to fall just short but not before a dramatic final over.

Needing 17 to win, the Outbacks hit two fours from the first two Kane Richardson deliveries.

But the medium-pacer rallied to claim a wicket with his third ball.

Two dot balls and a single followed in the remainder of the over as the Strike got home.

Southern Districts’ Blair Dalton was the best bowler for the Strike with 3-22 from his three overs.
